๐Ÿš€ Build Your Own German Challenges with AI – The MCP Server is Here!

Let’s face it: AI is everywhere. ChatGPT-5 is trending, your neighbor’s cat is probably writing poetry, and “the future of learning” is on every headline. But at Konnektoren, we’re not just chasing hype – we’re building tools that actually help you learn German, your way.

Introducing our brand new MCP server at konnektoren.help! ๐ŸŽ‰

How to Create Your Own German Challenge (Step by Step!)

  1. Add the MCP Server to LM Studio
    Want to use our AI tools in LM Studio? It’s easy!
    • Click this button: Add MCP Server konnektoren-mcp to LM Studio
    • Or, in LM Studio, add a new MCP server:
      Name: konnektoren-mcp
      URL: https://konnektoren.help/mcp
    • Feeling fancy? Edit your mcp.json file and add:
      {
        "mcpServers": {
          "konnektoren-mcp": {
            "url": "https://konnektoren.help/mcp"
          }
        }
      }
  2. Explore Challenge Types
    Not sure what kind of exercise you want? Ask the MCP server for all available challenge types (like multiple-choice, gap-fill, custom, etc.).
    Tip: In LM Studio, use the tool challenge_types_overview to see examples and templates!
  3. Draft Your Challenge
    Use the templates to write your own challenge. For example, a multiple-choice YAML might look like this:
    !multiple-choice
    id: "my_first_mc"
    name: "My First Multiple Choice"
    description: "Test your knowledge of German colors."
    questions:
      - question: "What is 'red' in German?"
        options: ["rot", "blau", "grรผn"]
        answer: 0
      - question: "What is 'green' in German?"
        options: ["gelb", "grรผn", "schwarz"]
        answer: 1

    Don’t worry, the AI can help you fill this out!
  4. Validate and Generate a Challenge URL
    Use the create_challenge_url tool in LM Studio. Paste your YAML, and the MCP server will check it and give you a link to play your challenge.
    If you get errors, just tweak your YAML and try again!
  5. Test Your Challenge
    Open the generated link in your browser. Make sure everything looks good, the questions work, and you’re happy with the result.
  6. Need Inspiration?
    Use the challenge_generation_suggestions tool to get creative ideas and best practices for making fun exercises.
  7. Publish or Share!
    • For quick sharing, just send your challenge link to friends or post it in the comments below!
    • For official publication (like on our marketplace or Gumroad), follow our usual workflow: add your YAML to the repo, create assets, and add it to the product catalog.

Real Example: From Handwritten Notes to Interactive Challenge

Ever wondered if you could turn your messy vocab notes into a real game? Here’s how we did it:

  1. Scan Your Handwritten List
    We took a photo of our Gartenpflanzen (garden plants) notes and uploaded it to LM Studio.

  2. Let the OCR Model Work Its Magic
    The mlx-community/olmOCR-7B-0725-8bit model read our handwriting and gave us this:
    - die Gulerlisse
    - der Schat
    - der Blumenkohl
    - der Apfel
    - die Hirse
    - des Brots
    - die Heidelbeere
    - der Estragon
    - der Pfeffer
    - die Quitten
    - die Himbeere
    - die Zucchini
    - die Bohnen
    - die Rote Beete
    - das Radicchio
    - die Karotte
    - der Kรผrbis
    - der Schin (Hirse)
    - die Petersilie

  3. Switch to a Model with MCP Tooling
    After OCR, switch to a model like openai/gpt-oss-20b, qwen/qwen3-coder-30b, or mistralai/devstral-small-2507.
    These models can use our MCP tools, but they can’t see images. So copy the OCR output and start a new chat!
  4. Correct the Words
    We asked the AI to fix the spelling and articles:
    Correct some words.

    die Gulerlisse - die Gartenkresse
    der Schat - der Spinat
    der Blumenkohl
    der Apfel
    die Hirse
    des Brots - der Brokkoli
    die Heidelbeere
    der Estragon
    der Pfeffer - der Roggen
    die Quitten - die Quitte
    die Himbeere
    die Zucchini - die Weintraube

    das Radicchio - das Radieschen
    die Karotte
    der Kรผrbis
    der Schin (Hirse) - die Pfefferminze
    die Petersilie

    Result:
    - die Gartenkresse
    - der Spinat
    - der Blumenkohl
    - der Apfel
    - die Hirse
    - der Brokkoli
    - die Heidelbeere

    - das Radieschen

  5. Ask for a Multiple-Choice Challenge
    We told the AI:
    create me a der die das, multiple choice challenge with these words of Gartenpflanzen
  6. Get Your Challenge Link!
    The AI generated a YAML file and the MCP server gave us this link:
    ๐Ÿ‘‰ Play the Gartenpflanzen der/die/das Challenge
