๐Ÿ‘‹ Hallo liebe Studieninteressierte!

Dreaming of studying in Germany? ๐ŸŒ Whether you’re from Ukraine, India, Nigeria, or anywhere else in the world — Germany offers world-class education, low tuition fees, and exciting opportunities for international students.

This guide will walk you through how to apply to a German university, including deadlinesuseful links, and important tips. Bookmark this page and follow each step carefully!

๐Ÿงญ Step 1: Check If You’re Eligible (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung)

First, you need to find out if your school-leaving certificate qualifies you to study in Germany.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Use the Anabin Database or
๐Ÿ‘‰ The DAAD Admission Database

๐Ÿ’ก If your diploma is not directly recognized, you may need to take a Studienkolleg (preparatory course).

๐ŸŽฏ Step 2: Choose the Right Program

Germany has over 20,000 degree programs. Choose between:

  • Bachelor / Master

  • Public / Private

  • English-taught / German-taught

  • Universities / Universities of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschulen)

๐Ÿง  Use these platforms to search:

๐Ÿ”— DAAD International Program Finder
๐Ÿ”— Hochschulkompass
๐Ÿ”— Study-in-Germany.de

๐Ÿ“ Step 3: Know the Deadlines (Important!)

For Winter Semester (starts in October):

  • Application Deadline: Usually July 15

  • Studienkolleg: Apply by March–April

For Summer Semester (starts in April):

  • Application Deadline: Usually January 15

Always check the university’s website — deadlines may vary!

๐Ÿ—ฃ Step 4: Check the Language Requirements

For Master’s: Include your Bachelor diploma and a letter of recommendation.

๐Ÿ’ก Make certified translations if needed.

๐Ÿ’ป Step 6: Apply via uni-assist or University Directly

๐Ÿงพ uni-assist is the platform used by many universities to process international applications:

๐Ÿ”— uni-assist.de

Costs: Usually €75 for the first application + €30 for each additional one.

❗ Some universities accept direct applications. Always check the admissions page of your chosen university.

๐Ÿ’ธ Step 7: Financial Proof (Finanzierungsnachweis)

You must prove you can afford your studies. Options include:

  • Blocked Account: Around €11,208 per year
    ๐Ÿ”— ExpatrioFintiba

  • Scholarship: e.g. DAAD
    ๐Ÿ”— DAAD Scholarships

  • Sponsor letter (from someone in Germany)

๐Ÿก Step 8: Find Accommodation

Start early! Student dorms are cheaper but fill up quickly.

You’ll need an address to register in Germany later!

๐Ÿ“ฌ Step 9: Wait for Your Admission Letter (Zulassung)

If accepted, the university will send a Zulassungsbescheid. Use this for:

  • Visa application

  • Health insurance setup

  • Enrollment

✈️ Step 10: Apply for a Student Visa & Travel

Apply for your student visa (Visum zu Studienzwecken) at your local German embassy.

Documents required:

  • Blocked account

  • Language certificates

  • Health insurance

๐Ÿ”— Visa Info – Auswรคrtiges Amt

๐Ÿ’ก Start this process early – sometimes it takes 6–12 weeks.

  • Student ID (Semesterticket for transport!)

  • Confirmation of enrollment

  • Access to student services
