๐Ÿงณ 2. Lightweight Travel Backpack

Berlin is a walking (and biking) city. Bring a compact, water-resistant daypack with secure zippers for your essentials and snacks.

I really love The North Face backpacks, they have a lot of different nice one. And they are all very good quality.

๐Ÿ“ฑ 3. eSIM or Local SIM Card

Avoid roaming charges. Grab a prepaid SIM at the airport or install a German-compatible eSIM before you land. Telekom and Vodafone are safe bets.

My personal favorite Vodafone

๐Ÿงฅ 4. Packable Waterproof Jacket

Rain comes out of nowhere here—especially in spring. A foldable rain jacket saves you from spontaneous soakings.

๐Ÿ“˜ 5. German Phrasebook or App

Download Google Translate or PONS, but honestly—our free vocabulary book + online platform will give you more practical results, faster.

๐Ÿšฒ 6. Bike-Friendly Accessories

Berlin is a bike haven. If you're cycling, bring a foldable helmet, portable lock, and a phone mount to follow maps safely. (if you are traveling by car)

Or just bring your own bike. There also quite a lot of private bike tours in Berlin. You can explore the city and it surroundings by yourself or request a tour by Konnektoren.

๐Ÿ“ธ 7. Portable Phone Charger

Your battery won’t last long between maps, camera, and translation apps. Get a compact 10,000mAh power bank for peace of mind.

I would also suggest you to take a power bank with a fast charger

Remember, that a lot of airlines have a 100 Wh limitation on the power banks. Airlines have limits on power bank usage primarily due to fire risks associated with lithium-ion batteries, which must be carried in your carry-on luggage and are never allowed in checked baggage. Generally, power banks up to 100 Wh are permitted without airline approval, while those between 100 Wh and 160 Wh typically require prior airline approval, and power banks above 160 Wh are generally not allowed on flights.

๐Ÿ’ธ 8. Take CASH and a card

In Berlin in many places you cannot pay by card. Majority places accept cash only. It is really hard to find a place, where you can by with a card. Also many places accept only EC cards, that is a special German system. Also in many restaurants and small shops you cannot pay by card at all or they accept the payment with card only after 10 Euro.

Also, remember that if would use an ATM in Berlin, something like "Euronet" it would charge you a very high comision for money withdrawal and if you do not have a bank card in Euro, than it would also convert the money from your currency to Euro with a very low rate. And at the end of the day you would loose A LOT of money.

One more thing, it is quite hard to find a currency exchange. There are not so many of them in the city, sometimes hard to find or the people, that are working there are somewhere at the pause. So I highly suggest you think about money exchange before you come to Berlin.

There are also plenty of places, where you can pay with a card, like shopping malls, supermarkets, hotels e.t.c.

๐Ÿงด 9. Toiletries in a TSA-Ready Bag

Pack light, clean, and airport-friendly: sunscreen, sanitizer, and moisturizer. I think, that after Corona everyone started care about there hygiene even more :)

And do not forger the sunscreen with an FPS 50+ if you are coming here at summer.

PS. FPS 50 can be a little bit to fat for some people, but it is the only one that really protects you from the sun. You can also take an FPS 30, it is much lighter. You can even buy as a spray.

PSS. For airplane ✈️ ......

you are typically allowed to bring travel-sized aerosols (3.4 ounces/100 milliliters or less) in your carry-on, as long as they fit comfortably within a single, transparent, quart-sized bag.

In checked baggage, limits are generally higher (up to 2 liters or 2 kg per person, with individual containers not exceeding 500 ml or 500 g), But do check it with your airlines/s, if you are flying with a transfer and have multiple airlines.

You can also grab this nice traveling bottles. I love to take my own hair conditioner, because I have a curly hair and always struggle with shampoos in the hotels. So at least one mini bottle is a must have for me.

๐Ÿ‘Ÿ 10. Comfy Walking Shoes

Berlin is cool with sneakers. Pick something that can handle 15k steps, sudden rain, and a detour through Tempelhofer Feld.

With this type of shoes you would look like local and feel very comfortable during your long walks around Berlin and other beautiful areas around.

๐Ÿš€ BONUS: Be Berlin-Ready — Not Just Packed, But Fluent(ish)

Don’t just come here to point and hope.
