New Insta360 Mic Pro: A Wireless Microphone That Finally Wants to Be Seen at IFA Berlin 2026

For years, wireless microphones have followed almost the same formula: make the transmitter smaller, improve the wireless range, add noise reduction, and try to hide the microphone somewhere on your clothes.

With the new Insta360 Mic Pro, Insta360 is taking a rather different approach.

Instead of asking creators to hide the microphone, the company has designed one that can actually become part of the video.

Released on May 19, 2026, the Mic Pro is Insta360’s new flagship wireless microphone system, positioned above the much smaller Mic Air. It is designed for creators, filmmakers, interviewers, podcasters and production teams who need more control than a basic wireless lavalier system can provide.

And its most immediately noticeable feature isn't actually about sound.

Your Microphone Can Display Your Brand

The circular Mic Pro transmitter has a customizable color E-Ink display.

Through the Insta360 app, creators can upload their own graphics, logos and identifiers and display them directly on the microphone.

For creators, this is surprisingly interesting.

Imagine recording an interview at a technology exhibition. Instead of having a large manufacturer's logo sitting prominently on your shirt, the microphone could display your own channel logo.

A company could put its corporate identity on microphones used by employees. A journalist could display the name of their publication. Different microphones could also be visually identified when several people are being recorded.

You could even put a QR code on the microphone linking viewers to your website or social media.

Suddenly, something that was previously just recording equipment becomes part of the visual identity of the creator.

There Are Actually Three Microphones Inside

The second major innovation is hidden behind that display.

Each Mic Pro transmitter contains a three-microphone array rather than the single-microphone design commonly found in compact wireless systems.

That allows the microphone to offer different directional pickup modes.

A microphone that can intelligently prioritize speech could therefore be considerably more useful than simply having another microphone with slightly better specifications.

Internal Recording Gives You a Backup

Mic Pro also supports internal recording, something the smaller Mic Air doesn't provide.

For serious video production, that is an important difference.

Wireless connections can fail. Camera levels can accidentally be set incorrectly. Someone can disconnect a receiver. Interference can appear at exactly the wrong moment.

Internal recording means the microphone itself can keep a recording of the audio.

It Can Handle Much Bigger Productions

Another interesting feature is scalability.

The Mic Pro supports configurations of up to four transmitters connected to one receiver. Insta360 also lists configurations involving two transmitters feeding multiple receivers.

A single creator can use one transmitter.

Two people can record an interview.

A four-person discussion or small podcast can be recorded through one system.

For creators who gradually move from solo YouTube videos toward interviews and professional productions, that means the microphone system doesn't immediately have to be replaced when the production becomes more complicated.

Timecode Makes It Much More Interesting for Filmmakers

Mic Pro also supports timecode.

That's a feature casual vloggers may never touch, but it becomes extremely useful once you're working with multiple cameras and separate audio sources.

Instead of manually trying to synchronize every recording in post-production, timecode can help keep different devices aligned.

It is another indication that Insta360 isn't positioning Mic Pro simply as a better Mic Air.

The two products are aimed at quite different creators.

It Works With More Than Insta360 Cameras

Unsurprisingly, Insta360 has made the microphone work closely with its own ecosystem.

Mic Pro can connect directly via Bluetooth to compatible cameras including the Insta360 X5, X4 Air, Ace Pro 2 and GO Ultra, while other models can work through the receiver and appropriate adapters.

But you're not locked into an Insta360 camera.

The receiver can connect to mirrorless and DSLR cameras through a 3.5 mm audio connection, and Insta360 also lists support for a Sony hot-shoe adapter. Phones, tablets and computers can be connected through the receiver or, in supported situations, Bluetooth.

That makes the Mic Pro particularly interesting for creators using several cameras.

You could film immersive shots on an Insta360 X5, switch to a Sony camera for cinematic footage and use your phone for quick social-media content without building completely separate audio systems around every device.

Mic Pro vs Mic Air

The Mic Air is still the better choice if your priority is simply having something tiny.

Its transmitter weighs only around 7.9 grams, while the Mic Pro transmitter weighs approximately 19.7 grams without the clip.

But the Mic Pro is in another category when it comes to functionality.

It adds the E-Ink display, three-microphone array, directional recording, AI noise reduction, automatic gain control, voice presets, internal recording, timecode and much larger multi-transmitter configurations.

The Mic Air is essentially designed around portability.

The Mic Pro is designed around production.

The Most Interesting Feature Might Still Be the Screen

Technically, there are more important features than an E-Ink display.

Internal recording can save an interview. Better directional pickup can improve audio. AI noise reduction can make footage recorded at an event usable.

But the screen represents something interesting about modern creator equipment.

Cameras increasingly appear in our videos. Microphones appear on our clothes. Our equipment isn't necessarily hidden behind the scenes anymore.

It becomes part of the content itself.

Insta360 seems to understand that.

For an individual creator, displaying your logo on the microphone may simply look cool. For a brand, media organization or YouTube channel, however, suddenly every interview can carry a small piece of branding directly inside the shot.

And because it's E-Ink, that image doesn't need to behave like a constantly illuminated conventional screen.

Who Is the Insta360 Mic Pro For?

The Mic Pro makes the most sense for creators who regularly shoot interviews, YouTube videos, documentaries, events, podcasts, travel content or multi-camera productions.

Someone making occasional smartphone videos probably doesn't need everything it offers.

But if you're walking around a trade show interviewing exhibitors, switching between a 360 camera and a Sony camera, dealing with crowds and unpredictable noise, while also wanting your own branding visible in the video, the Mic Pro suddenly starts looking like it was designed specifically for that kind of workflow.

That's what makes it interesting.

The Insta360 Mic Pro isn't simply trying to make the wireless microphone disappear.
